Lindsay had taken the glasses from me, as I now concentrated on running the boat. The VHF squawked, “Thank you, Murph, I owe you, big time! I bet he doesn’t try that crap again anytime soon.”

“Craziest thing I’ve seen on the water in quite a while, and that’s saying something, Gary. And I’ll settle for a drink at the Beach Bar when you get back.”

“Roger that, Cap. You’re on, but for more than just one, I’ve got your whole bar tab!”

Lindsay interrupted our conversation, still looking through the binoculars.

“Oh, it just got crazier; those two are fighting. Wait, fight’s over. The big guy missed and hit a top support. The way he’s holding his hand, it looks like he may have broken something.”

Sandy piped up, “This day just keeps getting better and better! And I thought that you two were good for stories, Casey and Dawn. But I’ve hit the jackpot with these two kids. I need to hang around you guys more often when I get back.”

“Bring your own beer,” I said.

“Ours too,” Linds added.

“Huh? What? Oh, ha ha. Funny people.”

The other four of us laughed, it was a good release for the tension that had been built up by what had happened.

Linds took another look through the glasses, “Looks like they’ve had enough. They’re hooked up and headed back south.”

I looked over and waved at Gary, which he returned as I slowly eased my throttles forward, bringing us back up to a high cruising speed. As I resumed our course for Bayside, I saw Casey was on the phone.

After Casey hung up, he said, “I’ve arranged with Rik for some extra security for the Mole through his stay at Bayside. We don’t need any negative publicity if those guys show up and they all get into it there. We’re going to make sure that Keller and his bunch aren’t allowed anywhere near the place.”

This is part of why I love being in partnership with Casey; it’s all about the details with him. I nodded and leaned back in my helm seat, wondering if I hadn’t known the crew, would I have jumped in the middle of that incident? I’d like to think I would always come to the rescue of anyone being attacked out on the water, but when it came to the Mole, I wasn’t too sure of that.
